We are celebrating Rabbit Awareness Week from the 1st- 9th of June.
Who cannot resist a cute rabbit with their floppy ears and fluffy tail? However, you may not be aware that they do have some very specific care requirements which is why every year there is Rabbit Awareness Week.
This year’s theme is ‘Protect and Prevent’ and is raising awareness around Rabbit Viral Haemorrhagic Disease 2 (RVHD2) urging all rabbit owners to get their rabbits vaccinated.
What is RVHD2?
Many rabbit owners are still unaware of this highly infectious disease and the fact that both indoor and outdoor rabbits are at risk. Outbreaks ofRVHD2 have now been reported all over the UK, meaning no area is safe. RVHD2 requires a separate vaccination to myxomatosis and RVHD1 (Nobivac). The combined myxomatosis/RVHD vaccination is only effective against the original strain of RVHD.It is advisable that these two vaccines are given two weeks apart.
Contact us today to find out more about this vaccine and if you are a member of The Healthy Pet Club, Rabbits Club then this vaccine is now included in your package, ensuring that your bunny gets the best possible care.
